Weekly Thursday Night Game Gathering at IHOP (6:00 PM)

  • Dec 6, 2012 · 6:00 PM

We are a group of people who like to get together on Thursday nights (at IHOP) and on Sunday afternoons (at Madison Square mall) to socialize over boardgames. We play a wide variety of games so there is sure to be one to suit everyone's taste. Just look at our games played discussions. Most games can be taught in about 5 minutes so everyone can join in the fun without feeling lost for long. Come join us, you'll be glad you did.

Some of us arrive at 5:30 for pre-game meals. Some of us eat during a game. Some of us arrive at 7:00 or 8:00. Games are played at multiple tables with varying game play durations so you should be able to join in a game after a short wait no matter when you arrive. Although people start to leave after 9:00, some people have been known to play past midnight.

Unfortunately, most people do not RSVP so it is not a good indicator of the number of people who will actually show up at a meetup. Look at the past meetups for a better indicator of the number of people who will attend.

Welcome to everyone who came; there were many new people tonight. Dave, Erika, Gil & Laurie played Pickonimo. It was no contest; Dave had several times the points as everyone else combined. Gil, Joann, Laurie & Yingdan played Get Bit (Yingdan was the sole survivor) & Ticket to Ride. Although Joann used all her trains to trigger game end, Laurie had the most points. John & Michael joined in for King of Tokyo. Laurie killed everyone except John, who was also in Tokyo during her killing rampage; John thanked her by biting her head off. Erika, Gil, Joann & Laurie played Puerto Rico. Gil ended up with the most points. Even though Joann left early, she came in 2nd. At other tables, Castle Panic, Cloud 9, Colossal Clash, Cutthroat Caverns, Legendary, Munchkins, Ra, St. Petersburg, Stone Age, Twilight Imperium, Zombie Dice & others were played.

I brought Cloud Nine, but did anyone play Cloud Nine?

You're right. Cloud 9 box was in the foreground but a zoom of the picture shows Colossal Clash. That game sure got a lot of plays.
