Hike the Sharp side of El Cajon Mountain

Hikers call this a climb and climbers call this a hike!  We will call it FUN!

This is GREAT hike that has a few short sections that are closer to mountaineering.  STEEP! The hike will total around 3,000 feet of elevation gain, 3,000 feet of elevation loss and around 8 miles round trip.  BE PREPARED FOR A FULL DAY HIKE.

On the plateau we will be walking through some chaparral.  It might be heavy in some places so you may want to wear pants.  Rumor has it there's also poison oak somewhere on the trail but I didn't see any on my recent trip.

NO BEGINNERS PLEASE.  This is a tough hike with a few short sections of rock climbing.  Don't be scared away by the "rock climbing."  It's not difficult and should you be in need, your trusty North County Adventure crew will lend you a helping hand (or maybe just yell at you)!

For the North County residents who wish to carpool, we can meet at the Escondido Target Parking Lot off Valley Parkway at 7:00 A.M.

If you have any energy left over after the hike, you can join us at Mesa Rim Climbing Gym for our monthly Climb & Brew.  NCA- where the fun never stops!

Below are photos from when I hiked this with Take A Hike!

See you there!

    Hey all,
I've hiked this twice before and it's the best hike/climb in the SD area!! I'd like to join but found it's already full on the first day of the post! Well I might just show up and tag behind if that's ok. I'm self sufficient for hiking at this level. See you Saturday.
