The time has come once again to get out your backpacking gear and join us on a bucket list adventure. Havasu Falls and the surrounding area is an amazing mix of milky blue water, lush green greenery (?), incredible waterfalls, all tucked into a deep narrow red walled canyon. Basically, it is the ultimate nature lovers playground. It is located on the quaint little indian reservation of the Havasupai Tribe and involves a 12 mile hike down into the canyon, which is fairly easy, but the hike out is another story (well, the last mile or so). But, it is a very interesting hike and the destination is well worth the effort!
So, here's the plan: We will be heading out very early Thursday morning to reach the trailhead by noon at the latest, then setting up camp by Thursday night. We will spend the weekend there and head back out Sunday morning. Everything else is pretty much up to the individual.
The cost will be $100 per person and I will need to collect that a few weeks prior to the event date (just to ensure that everyone who signs up to go is fully committed). I will be sending out more details as the date gets closer. Go to the Message Board to post questions or comments.
If the group has reached its max size, rsvp anyway and you will be put on the waiting list (usually a few slots will open up). If members drop out, you will be added to the group that is going.
This will be really awesome! Swimming, hiking, cliff jumping, viewing nature in all its glory. It has it all!
Be sure to bring water shoes. Our day hikes will have numerous stream crossings.
