Ya know what's cool about running at the beach and trails? Everything. In fact, we have enjoyed the weekly beach run so much that we have decided to add another run to the schedule. These runs are for all fitness levels and are geared to get you in shape, or help you stay in shape, as well as prepare you for the upcoming outdoor adventures. The hill running/climbing is a must for training for the adventure/mud runs. Plus, trail running strengthens your ankles big time.
Clicking on the location above will always get you a map and allow you to get specific directions from your area. The general directions are Rancho Sante Fe Road south, left on Camino Junipero and then another immediate left on Corte Romero where you immediately look for parking on the side of the road.
At this location, the run/climb should be about 4-5 miles round trip with 800 feet of elevation gain to the top of Denk Tank mountain, the highest peak in Carlsbad. For those who have gone to the other places for the trail run this should be tougher/longer than Calavera, but not as long a climb as Double Peak. Parts of the trails can be rough so wear appropriate shoes.
And Brew? - I say we head over to Fezziwigs (https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=216026241461825156877.0004c37a77ca1610d74db&msa=0&ll=33.136976,-117.251244&spn=0.144031,0.242729) after for some carb replacement therapy (http://carlsbadtrainingsolutions.blogspot.com/2012/10/beer-new-post-exercise-recovery-elixir.html)!
