Session 1: Azure and IaC: Azure Bicep vs Hashicorp Terraform

In this presentation, Jack Lee (Microsoft MVP) will talk about Azure and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will learn about Azure Bicep and Hashicorp Terraform -- the two most popular IaC tools for deploying resources in your Azure environment. We will compare Azure Bicep and Hashicorp Terraform and share some tips and tricks to help you make the most informed decision for your solution.

This presentation is intended for cloud engineers, DevOps practitioners, software architects and developers.

Session 2: Azure Virtual Hub and Spoke Architecture 101

Roy Kim (Microsoft MVP) will provide an extensive architecture overview of an Azure Virtual Network topology and provide guidance on how to design for various scenarios and organization sizes. He will also go over an Az CLI script of building out a hope and spoke virtual network. In addition describe on-premises connectivity and how to build a proof of concept.

Host and Speaker Bio

Jack Lee is a Microsoft MVP and a Senior Azure Certified Consultant with a passion for software development, cloud, and DevOps innovations. He is an active Microsoft tech community contributor and has presented at various user groups and conferences, including the Global Azure Bootcamp at Microsoft Canada. Jack is an experienced mentor and judge at hackathons and is also the president of the North Toronto Cloud & DevOps User Group. He is the co-author of "Azure for Architects", "Azure Strategy and Implementation Guide", and "Cloud Analytics with Microsoft Azure". Roy Kim is a solutions architect and developer focused on Azure, SharePoint and Office 365. He is an independent consultant. In recent years, has been supporting solutions in Azure for large enterprise. This includes Kubernetes design and build in Azure, Azure operational infrastructure, cloud security best practices, SharePoint Server deployment in Azure IaaS. Before then, he has been delivering SharePoint solutions public internet facing web site, document management, portals and custom development with .NET and JavaScript. A Microsoft MVP award recipient since 2017. He holds a BS in computer science degree from the University of Toronto.
