The NSKC paddle will launch from the boat ramp just south of historic Cold Spring Harbor and paddle north along cliffs, mansions, and a revolutionary war battle site. After leaving the harbor we will enter the Long Island Sound with our destination Caumsett State Park where will stop for lunch and rest. From there we will return and some may want the option of exploring the inner harbor which ends in a marsh and surrounded by the Cold Spring Harbor Lab and the NYS fish hatchery. Wind conditions must be less than 15 mph for this 10 mile paddle. The trip rating is a 2-3. Please arrive a half hour early so that we can start at 9 am. The boat ramp (Billy Joel Park and Boat Ramp) is across the street from the Green trail parking lot. You can park there after unloading your boat at the ramp and there is plenty of parking along the road.
Proper personal safety gear is required , a spray skirt recommended as conditions might merit. Bring the apropriate solar screening, water, and snack / lunch. Remember, event time is launch time. Give yourself enough time to gear up!
