Valley Classical Concerts @ Smith -- ETHEL (seems to be Pop w Classical Fusion?)

  • Sweeney Concert Hall in Sage Hall

144 Green Street, Northampton, MA (map)

    42.316454 -72.638301

  • Sweeney Concert Hall
    Smith College
    Northampton, MA

$39. for non-subscriber individual tickets with internet ordering fee, but much less ($5-$10 for people bringing kids, college students, high school students, etc.)

    “Blue Dress”

One of classical’s coolest quartets will do new works by three extraordinary women (Anna Clyne, Missy Mazzoli, and Pulitzer Prize-winner Julia Wolfe) combined with music by women who inspired those composers, including Stevie Nicks, Kim Gordon, and Aretha Franklin. Get ready!

Note 1: usually, tickets for this series  do not sell out, and are available at the door.  But, occasionally, they do sell out.   If you do not have tickets in advance, you should check with Valley Classical Concerts to make sure they will be available at the door.

Note 1b: Also, a few people in our group, including me, subscribe this series of 6 concerts.  People who have not subscribed who are  trying to get a seat next to a group member might try to coordinate using the message board below this event listing.  Or, my seat is CTR C 105, which is a good one in the middle of the third row.  Often, the seats on either side of me are not taken by subscribers, but rather by last minute purchasers, so you may be able to get one of these neighboring seats if you call Valley Classical Concerts to place your order, or if you purchase your ticket at the door last minute.

Note 2: Optional Dinner After: I am almost always game for dinner before (or after for afternoon concerts) for this series.  I am now avoiding scheduling an "official" one, as often others do not have an interest.  However, if you do have interest, even if as little as one person, let me know, and we can arrange something in downtown Northampton.
