The Spiritual Power of Words

In everyday life we perhaps take language for granted - but is it not a source of wonder that sounds and symbols can convey meaning in the way they do? This evening we will focus on the spiritual aspects of language. Is there perhaps a spiritual - as opposed to a purely social or practical - origin for language? Can language evolve to express spiritual experiences that are presently regarded as ineffable? Would language "work" at all if we were not, perhaps, already "connected" at some deeper level? Certain words or phrases (e.g. mantras, invocations, etc.) seem to be "charged" with spiritual power - how does this work? If you are intrigued by these questions - or if you would like to share any words or phrases which have a particular spiritual meaning for you - then you are most welcome to take part in this group discussion.

An interesting discussion - despite the inherent limitations of language!
