Ok- I am here- at the first picnic table by the corner of the parking lot. Will save as much room as I can. :)
We are by the place where the kayakers usually load up. And my phones about to die- sorry! Need a portable charger, lol.
Hello all- this is going to be an amazing experience. Feeling like it's going to be a bit challenging to try and save enough room for 18+ people, so please be flexible once you get there. A couple of us are getting there at 8:00 to try to save some spots. There will be a lot of people there, so when u get there - please try to find us , and put a chair or blankets down to save your spot. Then u can go and enjoy the wonderful views from the telescopes . Remember - it will be dark out there- please bring your red-tinted flashlights . :) and, the earlier you get there, the easier it will be to find us. Thanks! This was an amazing experience a couple of years ago. Lets gather and enjoy it together. The Shasta Astronomy Club will be there with their telescopes for us to view stars and galaxies.
Lets bring a snack or dessert to share. Bring water and a cooler if you like. Bring a chair, blanket or sleeping pad to lay on. It's nice to lay back and enjoy the view. Please bring only the red-tinted flashlights, as normal flashlights are discouraged because they obscure the view of the meteors for others. They will have the beach open late, but the lights will be turned off.
Parking pass needed and available at the visitor's center for $5.00/day or $25.00 for a yearly pass.
Just a reminder: no dogs, glass containers, or alcohol allowed at this beach.
Hope you can join us for this. :)
