Morning View Heritage Land Area is a new 213-acre public nature preserve in southeast Kenton County on the west side of the Licking River. We will cover all the foot trails which currently travel through woods, climb hills, traverse ridgetops with nice vistas and pass newly constructed wetlands and bat habitats in the valley. This hike is easy to moderate – about 2 miles in 2 hrs with a couple climbs & descents upto 180’ each. Trails are sometimes muddy, slippery or tricky in wintery or wet weather. There are no restrooms. NKY Group was actively involved in trail blazing in 2016 so expect discussion of plans for expanding trails, including possible trail blazing outings. WHERE TO PARK: There is no sign yet but the new gravel parking lot is on the WEST side of Decoursey (177), on the opposite side of the road from the railroad track, about a half mile south of intersection with KY-14 where there's a Morning View Post Office. Look for the gravel parking lot with 2 entrances and black barn behind a wood fense.
