Description of trip-
Come along as we explore the 3 day, 2 night Loop Trail. This area is one of the most scenic in the region In 2007 we saw a mature Bald Eagle flying over the river during our lunch break! Highlights included overnight stay at a trailside shelter which overlooks the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River, seeing Yahoo Falls which is the highest waterfall in Ky., camping in the deep woods, sitting around blazing campfires, being serenaded at night by Barred Owls, snuggling into our warm sleeping bags with the sounds of far off trains accompanied by the occasional yapping of Coyotes. We will be hiking along the cliffs and boulder strewn River and streams of this gem in the crown of our great Commonwealth! The river is back to its normal state since the lowering of Lake Cumberland, with all its rapids and boulders in plain site.
