Leo Howard Lubow is a writer, educator, and award-winning photographer who specializes in portraiture and fine art images. While his work ranges from formal portraits to subjects as varied as jazz, boxing, and life on the street, it is united by a simple motif: he is attracted to the individual or lone traveler, separated from the mainstream of life. In short, he celebrates the isolated moment.

In his presentation, Lubow will seek to inspire photographers of all levels to better clarify their own vision. Most of the evening will be spent reviewing and discussing the work of masters who have influenced him, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Eisenstadt, Arnold Newman, Helmut Newton, Elliot Erwitt, Diane Arbus and Michael Kenna. While exploring these masters, Mr. Lubow will ask those present to wrestle with the question: what makes a "great" photograph?

Leo will also suggest tips and techniques for capturing a fine art image, whether it be shot on the street, at a chosen location or in the studio. Finally, if time permits, he'll move to the post-capture process, briefly touching on how he creates a B&W fine art image in Photoshop.

Dear PWPPA Members,

If you appreciate an educated eye and the art of photography, you will not want to miss Leo's lecture. Your imagination, creativity, and composition will ignite by studying the masters of the 20th century. Leo will demonstrate how he has incorporated learned elements of these great photographers into his own work!

Make the effort to attend. You will benefit PWPPA but most of all, yourself. We are poised, with just a tad of effort on everyone's part to attend, to become the largest and strongest professional photographers' association in Northern Virginia. We gain new members every month!

We bring to you unsurpassed educational programs, that collectively, will make you successful in a competitive industry. There is no other organization that can bring to you this type of programming for less than the cost of a movie ticket! I ask you, which one will benefit your potential for income or preeminence, in a profession that you love!?

Best!
Philip
