Northlake Toastmaster's is a vibrant, energetic Club. 'Diversity' is a reflection of our Club membership, which represents multiple generations from the 20 year old millennials to the baby boomers. We are also female and male, a rainbow of colors from many places around the country and the world. The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and mutual respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment, like Toastmasters. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

The Northlake Club has earned its reputation as a President's Distinguished Club in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and is continuing its legacy in 2015, by helping its members to achieve their individual goals. We are a local chapter of Toastmasters International. Toastmasters International is a 90-year old, non-profit organization that gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking and leadership abilities through local club meetings, training seminars, and speech contests.

Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you are speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

At Northlake Toastmasters, members learn by taking leadership roles to help run the Club's weekly meetings and by preparing and presenting speeches to the club members. Our club has an average of 25 members who attend our Wednesday night meetings, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.

At each meeting, everyone has the opportunity to participate (but there is no pressure to do so.)
