North of Boston Trading Event

  • Mar 27, 2011 · 1:00 PM
  • Enon Village Community Room

For our first spring trading event We'll be meeting at the Enon Village community room in Wenham, so there is plenty of space for trading and parking. Time: 1-3 pm

The basic idea is to trade your extra stuff for other peoples extra stuff. Think fresh or preserved foods, handmade items, garden implements, seeds, plants, eggs, tools, composting worms....etc.

The general rules:
Meet and greet at 1:00
Trading starts at 1:30
No cash exchanged but you may gift things to someone
Preserved foods should have a label with ingredients
Items that you have not swapped or gifted go home with you for the next time
Wrap up at 3:00

And please post a hint of your offerings and anything you're seeking in the comments section!

I had a great time. We traded some things, then went on a foraging expedition, where we found watercress, a very old swamp maple tree, dandelion root, sorrel, chickweed, and a field of skunk cabbage, and I sank two feet into the mud. A memorable event!

We had a lot of fun! Traded a few things, including getting some terrific books, then we went on a short wild plant/foraging walk. We picked water cress and observed and sometimes tasted dandylions, chickweed, veronica/speedwell, burdock burrs, skunk cabbage flowers, and looked at various garden plants. It was a great day!

We had an impromptu foraging adventure nearby. Watercress, wild onion and dandelion. Iris uncovered some tasty roots from her garden. Nice to meet Lee and glad to finally own a food mill :)

Need more folks to come out. Think we'll try a Gloucester site for April.

I just joined this group. This event is the wonderful idea. Unfortunatly, I do already have some plans for this Sunday, but look forward to the next traiding event.
