I love to play pickleball. I also enjoy seeing others have a good time learning and playing the sport. I am especially enthusiastic because it's much easier to learn than other paddle/racquet sports, but can still challenge the seasoned athlete.

How and when did you first learn about pickleball?

In 1980 I read a book The Other Racquet Sports by Dick Squires. It has an interesting chapter on pickleball and its origin on Bainbridge Island (near Seattle) in the mid-1960s.

What experience do you have playing pickleball? Other sports, particularly paddle/racquet sports?

I've been playing since 2010 and have enjoyed traveling locally and to WA, OR, CA, AZ, UT, FL, SC, MD, DE, NY, NJ, CT, and ME for tournament competition. I have played national tournaments in tennis, platform tennis, paddle tennis, and, since 2010, pickleball. In November 2018 I was fortunate enough to team up with Ed Klarman at Nationals in Indian Wells. We barely squeaked out the gold medal in the 65+, 4.5 division, winning 16-14 in the decisive game after trailing 11-5. It was my first doubles medal at Nationals on my eighth try.

Where are you from originally, if different than your current locale?

Born 8/20/53 in Boston, I grew up in Dover, MA and now reside in the East Falls/Germantown area of Philadelphia.
