Meditation Practice & Support @ NSUC

All teachers agree: The key to a successful meditation practice is regular practice. Therefore this meetup is looking for practitioners who are willing to make a dedicated effort to sit together weekly in order to fully realize the benefits of group practice. All levels and schools of thought are welcome. Meet like minded individuals while expanding your own personal practice in a non-competitive and supportive environment. Feel free to join us for a sitting and experience increased self awareness and inner peace by way of your journey inward.

TIME: Our meeting time will be 7:00pm so please arrive as close to 7:00pm as possible. We will begin our meditation promptly at 7:15pm. This meetup should end by approximately 9:30pm.

LOCATION: North Shore Unitarian Church (NSUC) is located in Deerfield on Half Day Road (Route 22) 1 mile west of Waukegan Road and 1/2 mile of the I-94 Tollway on the north side of the street. The church shares a driveway with 3000 Half Day Road. Look for their sign as you approach the building. Once you’ve turned into the driveway, you’ll take an immediate right to enter the church campus. The front door is in the back! Ample parking will be available at no cost. If you think that you might need some additional help locating us, please feel free to contact me prior to the closing of RSVP's & I will be happy to provide you with my cell #.

FORMAT: We will begin with some Tai Chi / Chi Gung stretches led by our dear friend Frank which will be followed by a short centering exercise, introductions and then some brief instruction before beginning our practice described as follows: We will sit in silence for two twenty minute sessions focusing on our breath as the meditation object. We will perform one period of standing & walking meditation between these two sessions. When we finish there will be a shared reading, time for questions, reflection and mingling for those who would like to participate.

FYI: Chairs will be available for those who prefer to use them. For those who choose to sit on the floor please bring your own, meditation bench, pillow, yoga mat or zafu cushion.

COST: A voluntary donation of $1.00 to help cover expenses would be most appreciated but is by no means expected.

If you have any questions about this particular sitting or our meetup group in general, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to sitting in practice and sharing energy in the present moment with all who choose to attend. Namaste, Mark Z

"Start where you are!" Loved the first chapter in this book. Compassion is so vital to this practice. Welcome Jen, Joel, & Ron! Grateful to y'all for choosing to be present. I hope you found your respective experiences to be beneficial & that you will join us in practice again sometime soon. Frank, thanks for sharing your intimate knowledge & experience in the art of Tai Chi / Chi Gung with us. I will be adding some of the exercises that you demonstrated into my daily practice. Always an honor to sit with everyone in this circle & embrace the present moment together. With a bow & a hug!

Good Afternoon: I went to a dance last night, and have a migraine. I was hoping it would dissipate, but, unfortunately, I have to cancel. I want to learn the art of medication, and will not go out dancing the night before. I am interesting in the group, and was telling someone last night about attending on Sunday.....See you at the next group......Sorry for the late cancellation.
