Please join us as we mindfully walk the paths of beautiful Ryerson Woods in Riverwoods, IL together stopping on occasion to meditate along the way.
Weather permitting, on Sunday October 21st we will meet @ 10:30am in front of the visitor's center before departing for the trails by around 10:45am. The hiking portion of this meetup will be approx. 3.5 miles total, although not straight through. Please wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Also, make sure to bring a water bottle & some trail mix. This meetup should end by approx. 1:30pm. Ryerson is located off Riverwoods Rd. approx. 2 miles north of Deerfield Rd. Parking is amply available @ the visitor's center. For more information, their website is: http://www.ryersonwoods.org
Format: After a brief centering exercise, we will quietly take to the trails observing noble silence and being mindful of our surroundings along the way. We will concentrate on the physical sensations of walking along with our breath. We will have two formal sitting periods along with one formal walking period in between them. When we stop to sit we will use nature as our meditation object while remaining anchored to our breath. Grass & earth will be available for sitting (feel free to bring a towel or lawn chair if you are not a fan of grass / earth insects). Bug spray and sunscreen will be provided if necessary. After the hike has concluded we will have a brief insight exchange and snack @ Panera Bread for those who wish to participate.
If you are planning to attend this meetup and are concerned about how to get there please feel free contact me, I will be happy to forward you my cell number just in case you can't find us. I'm looking forward to taking our practice outdoors with y'all once again.
