My_Stop_Motion_Movie

We made this short animation as part of one of the members sessions at Norwich Hackspace when Graham Johnston showed us the basics of stopframe animation, plus we painted some Hackspace mugs

Hot_Water_01

EMONCMS graph (Pi) showing hot water tank temperature (Jeenode v6). Solar power diverter (Arduino) heats water that has chilled over-night. 10:30 that stops, then after doing some gardening and a bath, the panels kick back in and heat it up again.

Ni-cd Discharge Curve

Alas the Arduino IDE cannot log data, but by using Tera-Term you can. 4 x Ni-cd batteries being monitored while discharging. This was the first logging attempt. Note the typical sharp cut-off at the end.

One_Wire_Temp_Sender

One of three (soon to be four) One-Wire sensors fitted through the hot water tank insulation (using a BLUNT instrument!) Wired in parallel as each has a unique code which is used by the program to identify them. The 4th will go through the wall.

Tank_Temp_Display

Arduino clone powered LCD temperature display. Outside air temp (bottom left) and Tx battery voltage (bottom right) still to be coded. What message will you display?

P1050840

Prototype 'Hot Water Tank Temperature Tx'. Board is a Jeenode with on-board Tx-Rx module. Three 'One-Wire' sensors monitor 'Upper', 'Middle' and 'Lower' temperatures. Switchable battery voltage display. 4th sensor for outside air temp to come.

Stable_Use

Arduino powered solar power diverter. Blue is solar, yellow is household usage. Data is from 9th, 10th of Dec 2014. Spare energy is diverted to the immersion heater. Note the immersion thermostat cutting in. What do you want to build today?
