- Raspberry Pi GPIO pins with Node.js
Always wanted to do more with your raspberry pi? Join us on our next talk about experimenting with GPIO pins on a Raspberry Pi. We will also be touching on other topics such as Websockets, Phaserjs and Parcel. Come join us to see just how fast/easy it is to get your home-brew project rolling.
- TDD Wars! (Team Challenge) - Ping Pong
Jest / VS Code Live Share / TDD We will be grouping up on teams to play 'Ping Pong'. This is a coding challenge where two teams try to beat each other in the creation of a small app with TDD. The first team writing a test to satisfy one of the acceptance criteria and the second writing the minimum code possible to satisfy the test. In the process, we will show the power of VS Code Live Share as the teams code on the same project in real time and we view it on the big screen. We will also strengthen our unit test skills and learn about Jest along the way.
- Matthew Bill: Making a build notification box with a Raspberry Pi.
Have you always thought it might be fun to have something that plays a sound every time a build fails or a deployment completes? Having it on your local machine can be fun, but wouldn’t it be great if it was a device in its own right (maybe even hooked up to a display). We demonstrate how you can use a raspberry pi hooked up to some speakers, the cloud and some Node.js code to do exactly that. We will make the code available on GitHub after the talk so you can try it for yourself.
