HEALTH

The Yoga is set at a level for a reasonably active body, without at all requiring any special level of fitness.

Normal aches and pains, lack of flexibility, weight issues and so on are great to bring to Yoga. Please contact me if you are unsure about beginning, the level of fitness needed, or any special requirements.

Yoga teachers have loads of ways they can adjust the Yoga offered, and we love to show our knowledge and be asked for suggestions and advice before or after class.There will be active movement and more gentle stretching.

Any serious physical health issues should be checked with your health provider, or with myself.

Pregnancy, blood pressure issues, back problems, osteoporosis, injuries and operations, heart problems, breathing difficulties, for example all need special thought with Yoga, so be sure to get in touch with any questions.
Same applies to Mental Health, severe or acute difficulties may not benefit from this group, although the mindfulness techniques are known to be useful for general mental and emotional wellbeing and moderate problems. Again, please discuss with your health provider and let me know as it can help me in the session to offer the best practices for you.

YOGA AND MEDITATION FOR WELLBEING IF YOU ARE SIGNED UP FOR 6 WEEKS, no need for you to sign in here, but do sign in to book a one off ‘drop in’ place. For wellbeing, the body benefits from movement and the mind benefits from stillness. Here will be both. We will be using Yoga movement to release and stretch the body. Each week will highlight different aspects of meditation practice. It is open to advance booking as a course of 6 sessions over consecutive Thursdays. If spaces remain, drop in will be available. THE YOGA There will be introduction to Yoga asanas and also different styles of Yoga, with Hatha, Yin, and a little flow, some restorative yoga too. The Yoga will build week on week expanding the sequence begun in week 1. The emphasis is on using Yoga as a moving meditation, release of tension, and preparation of the body for sitting meditation. Whether it's your first time meditating and doing yoga, or you have an existing practice, come and join us for what will be some beautiful sessions! THE MEDITATION Building to a longer period of sitting meditation, from 10 to 20 minutes. We will be using deep rest and relaxation as the essential starting point for breath awareness leading into meditation. The meditation has no religious or spiritual emphasis. We will use mindfulness techniques which have been found useful for wellbeing and mental health. We are looking at some of the basic techniques which offer a clear method and a simple, enjoyable way to get you started on your journey of meditation. The sessions will be less structured and less taught than a formal course, the emphasis is entirely on practice, rather than instruction or discussion. YOGA AND MEDITATION, DESTRESS THURSDAYS This particular series, leading towards Christmas, is intended to bring immediate warmth and relaxation to you, as well as introducing ways of managing stress long term. We will be using active energetic Yoga movement to release and stretch the body. Some facia release though rollers and self massage,. Central to the sessions will be pranayama, breath awareness and breath practice. We will be enjoying the sublime and total rest of yogic relaxation. Each week will highlight different aspects of meditation practice, and will lead on from previous sessions, and be suitable for beginners. In this particular series of sessions we are focusing of the use of mindfulness as a way to relieve anxious, restless feelings, and persistent worry thoughts, which most of us get at times. All are welcome, beginners and experienced. The active yoga is intended for a mobile, normally active body, but please ask my advice if you have any difficulties that may need accommodations. It is open to advance booking as a course of 6 sessions, over 7 weeks. If spaces remain, drop in will be available.
