What we're about

Here are some comments on the group.

G. Lovely atmosphere; relaxing, gentle yoga & meditation... Mysie exudes a peaceful, gentle, calming, soothing aura/presence... Just the thing after work, or a hectic day... Very relaxing, energising & uplifting... Recommend...

R.I'm a total beginner to yoga and I've found it really rewarding. Mysie is a great teacher. The atmosphere is calm and meditative, and I feel refreshed afterwards.

G.Never done yoga before, Mysie has created a welcoming and relaxed environment to experience and learn the practice. I leave with a deep sense of relaxation, highly recommended.

R.First time trying yoga. I'm so glad to have found this class. Mysie is an engaging and caring teacher and has fostered an atmosphere of calm curiosity among the group. So far we are mainly beginners, women and men, and of different ages. I look forward to Thursday evening all week!

M.My first time doing yoga. What an amazing atmosphere and a great teacher!

And from me.....

WILD WINDS STILLING

At the Yoga Tree a fresh series of Yoga and Meditation begins Thursday, 18th April running for 5weeks, meeting every Thursday 5.45 through to 7:00pm. There are benefits in coming each week, but you can also drop in to any one session.

There will be a 6th session, which will meet outdoors, this ones not a drop in, it’s only for people who have attended a few sessions previously.

As Easter and 2 bank holidays fall in this period there will be suggestions of how connection to the outdoors and nature can help us be more aware and mindful in Yoga practice and in daily life. The natural world can be such a great way to bring us into mindful presence.

Please aim to arrive around 5.30 as you will be unable to join us after 5.45.

THE YOGA

We will be using Yoga movement to release and stretch the body.

There will be introduction to various Yoga asanas and also different style of Yoga, with Hatha, Yin, and a little flow. The Yoga will build week on week expanding the sequence begun in week 1.

The emphasis is on using Yoga as a moving meditation, release of tension, and preparation of the body for sitting meditation.

Whether it's your first time meditating and doing yoga, or you have an existing practice, come and join us for what will be some beautiful sessions!

THE MEDITATION

Each week will highlight particular aspects of meditation practice, building to a longer period of sitting meditation.

We will be using deep rest and relaxation as the essential starting point for breath awareness and moving into Meditation, bringing the mind home to the body.

There is a period of meditation within the session, varying from 10 to 20 minutes.

Meditation techniques derived from the richness of traditional Buddhist and Yogic practice are referred to, but the meditation has no religious or spiritual emphasis. We will use mindfulness techniques which have been found useful for wellbeing and mental health.

We are looking at some of the basic techniques which offer a clear method and a simple, enjoyable way to get you started on your journey of meditation.

The sessions will be less structured and less taught than a formal course, the emphasis is entirely on practice, rather than instruction or discussion.

THE CONNECTION TO NATURE

I will be offering optional suggestions for home practice which stimulate mindful living through connection with the elements and nature.

I hope to be posting these on the meet up discussion board, so you can comment on what your home practice brings.

HEALTH

The Yoga is set at a level for a reasonably active body, without at all requiring any special level of fitness.

Normal aches and pains, lack of flexibility, weight issues and so on are great to bring to Yoga. Please contact me if you are unsure about beginning, the level of fitness needed, or any special requirements.

Yoga teachers have loads of ways they can adjust the Yoga offered, and we love to show our knowledge and be asked for suggestions and advice before or after class. There will be active movement and more gentle stretching.

Any serious physical health issues should be checked with your health provider, or with myself.

Pregnancy, blood pressure issues, back problems, osteoporosis, injuries and operations, heart problems, breathing difficulties, for example all need special thought with Yoga, so be sure to get in touch with any questions.
Same applies to Mental Health, severe or acute difficulties may not benefit from this group, although the mindfulness techniques are known to be useful for general mental and emotional wellbeing and moderate problems. Again, please discuss with your health provider and let me know as it can help me in the session to offer the best practices for you.
Please do get in touch, I am really happy to answer questions, and prepare to be both energised and calmed!

Look forward to meeting up with you soon, Mysie
