Loire Valley versus South Africa : competition around the Chenin Blanc

Now that we have had our first wine tasting, and things are nicely falling into place (organisation, periodicity, themes) I propose to organise the on-coming events every first friday of the month around various wine themes. For now, the wine tastings will take place at my place, however we may host in turn in or look into finding a venue in town if more people decide to join in.

I suggest to organise the next event around the varietal called Chenin Blanc which is widespread in the Loire Valley (Vouvray, Montlouis, Savennieres, Anjou, Chinon, Jasnière, etc..) and South Africa (where it is the most widely planted variety and launched South African's wine rennaissance).

Find also my list of suggested themes fore the on-coming sessions :

- Languedoc and Roussillion : region rapidly growing in wine making reputation which now hosts some of the biggest names of modern wine world (Gauby, Daumas Gaissac, Peyrerose, Grange des Peres, Matassa, Clos des Fees, Mas Julien, etc..)

- Sancerre versus New Zealand : competion aroud the Sauvignon blanc varietal with comparison of the most modern (Cloudy Bay, Te Mata, GreyWacke, Sain Clair etc..) and most traditionnal (Dagueneau, Cotat, Pinard, Vacheron, etc..) wine makers on each side of the planet

- Whisky : blend or single malt. Blind comparison of the greatest names in whisky making from Scotland (Aberlour, Ardbeg, Auchentoshan, Brora, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Oban, Talisker, etc..)

- Sparkling versus Champagne : competion around the world most renowned wine region (Champagne) and its sparkling counterparts (Prosecco, Cava, English sparkling, Spumante, etc..)
