Workshop Description:

How to talk really good - A how-to guide on creating talks.

Our tech community is full of bright and interesting people each with their unique experiences and points of view. Every person has valuable content to share, including YOU!

Jessica and Moreton will begin by talking through the benefits of speaking, both to your career and personally. You will learn how to come up with a talk idea, write an abstract and bio for submission. We will then spend some time answering questions and giving assistance on focusing your lists of talk ideas.

Afterwards, Jessica and Moreton will be on hand to guide you through creating your Speaker Profiles, Talk Titles and Descriptions so that you stand the best possible chance of being accepted to talk at events.

This workshop is for all levels. By the end, you will have had face to face help with coming up with a talk idea and creating a bio showing off your expertise.

About our Speakers:

Jess White

Jessica is a software developer, international speaker & avid learner. Topics that she is interested in include community building, monitoring and continuous improvement of systems. She is a Director of DDD East Midlands, a technology conference which will take place in 2019 and the founder of Women In Tech, Nottingham.

Before switching to technology, she spent a previous life as a neuroscientist. She is easily bribed with coffee & loves hearing about other people’s experiences.

Moreton is a Principal Engineer at The Ministry of Justice. Outside of his day job he is a Director and Co-organiser of DDD East Midlands, occasional speaker, volunteer, and event attendee.
