The Maker of Moons (LotFP)

New game, open to new players!

"I am myself just as much evil as good, and my nation is--
And I say there is in fact no evil;
(Or if there is, I say it is just as important to you,
to the land, or to me, as anything else.)"

-- Walt Whitman

The Agent hauls some nuggets of yellow metal that shine dully in the lamplight. You aren't sure what he's getting at, haven't been since you agreed to come up to the woods north of the big metropolis to do some hunting. It all seems so distant, so dreamlike, ever since you saw that foreign girl in the woods --

"What is gold?" he asks.

"Gold's an element, a metal --"

"Wrong! What about your friend, what does he think gold is?"

"Gold was an element when I went to school," said I.

"It has not been an element for two weeks," said the Agent. "And except for the General, and the Professor who discovered it's true nature, you youngsters are the only people in the world who know it."

This is going to be a session of Lamentations of the Flame Princess: Weird Fantasy Role-Playing, which is a game I was turned on to by rummaging through a friend's attic! In play style, it plays a little like a simplified DnD, but in content, it focuses on the gothic, weird, macabre, encouraging elements of grindhouse horror -- which I find to be a close philosophical twin to some of the themes in World of Darkness. Ergo, I am hoping there will be some interest here!

For a review of the game if you'd like to become more familiar, check this out:

Disclaimer: I am trying my hand at GMing/Storytelling. Please bear with me. I am doing it fueled by the purest desperation of simply never finding a game on when I can attend sessions for it. I hope some of you will join me in this endeavor.

If anyone has a suggestion for a space (I am not a huge fan of Au Bon Gout, but will use it if absolutely need be), please let me know!

I'm not sure if they're the right version, since I know there's a 'Grindhouse Edition' of Lamentations of the Flame Princess, but rules for the game are available for free through DriveThruRPG. To view the link I believe it is necessary to set your account to be able to see Adult Content.

This book doesn't share much of the setting, for better or for worse. I'm curious where the 'Weird' comes from, since I see it in the numerous setting-related book covers but not in the rules themselves. I'm very intrigued.

Let me know if the link isn't appropriate so I can take it down if necessary.

I've been skulking around for a while. Gonna try to run a game since I can't seem to ever make any of the awesome ones going on. But yay for random games!

I read the review and found it interesting. I'm also free on the current date, so I'd love to attend.

Sweet! It's a pretty neat, unencumbered little system with some great ideas. Would love to have you along for the ride.
