time to announce the first meetup after the summer break. This time the data science team at GfK will host the event and share some insights about professional data science. You find the outline of the talk below. Please note that there is limited space. You need to register, if you want to come. And please unregister and release your seat, if you can't make it.
The presentation is planned for about 90 min. There will be a get together afterwards with some drinks and food for those who want to stay and talk.
Hope to see you there.
In our presentation we will share our experiences at GfK in building End2End data products and also show you a demo from one of our newest solutions.
But how do you develop End2End data products nowadays? By writing Functional Design Documents for 6 months and then Data Scientists do their black science voodoo and throw over an R/Python/Scala script to the Tech guys and hope for the best? And after 18 month of developing you realize what you've developed is not needed by your Stakeholders anymore?
Nowadays everybody talks about being agile and developing products in an agile way. But what does that really mean to be agile from a data science perspective? How do you build data products using Agile? Is it even possible and does it make sense?
If it makes sense what is the look and feel of products in development?
- How do we live Agile? Plus, an overview of the two main phases of
building a data product: product design and product development
- Deep dive into product design and product development at GfK based
on real-world examples
- Short glimpse into products in development
- Beer (and food)!
You do not need any special knowledge for following the talk. Just curiosity.
Everybody is invited for discussion or continuing the hands-on after the event.
Werner has been involved with technology management since the days of the 30 / 30 IBM hard drive (aka 'Winchester' drive). He managed to survive Y2K and plans on surviving the Unix Time 'Apocalypse'. He loves the concepts around Agile but has rarely seen these successfully thrive in the wild...
Vanya lives and breathes technology and she loves data. As a Product Owner at GfK she works together with engineers and data scientists on developing the next generation marketing analytics solutions.
René joined GfK in 2015 after analyzing loyalty card and transaction data of a retailer for a couple of years. Having a background in business informatics he works as a Data Scientist on the Promo Optimizer.
Barbara is working as a Data Scientist for media measurement products at GfK since 2014 where she can follow her affinity for numbers and statistics. She is responsible for client consultancy as well as the development and implementation of analytical solutions.
Thomas started swimming with agile Big Data dolphins two years ago, left home waters, and visits new havens searching for media solutions.
Looking forward to see you!
