What we're about

Null Space Labs is a hackerspace in the Los Angeles area. We focus on hands-on learning and hacking of electronics, software development, computer security, lock picking, and more! Members have access to an extensive hardware lab for electronics, a laser cutter, mills & lathes, a vinyl cutter, a blotter printer, a t-shirt printer, and much more for all of your hacking needs.

Tuesday nights are public open nights, but we're usually around most other week days after 7PM. Almost every Saturday afternoon we have a class of various aspects of security and technology, see more on the full class list (http://www.meetup.com/NullSpaceLabs/pages/NSL_Class_Offerings/).

LA Embedded Security Meetup

Null Space Labs

Null Space Labs hosts "Los Angeles Embedded Security" group meetup! LA Embedded Security is for people interested in breaking and building secure embedded devices. It is focused on both hardware and software with the goal of sharing information about techniques and best practices. We encourage people of all skill levels who want to contribute and learn. The Los Angeles Embedded Security Meetup is graciously hosted by NSL keyholder Joe Rozner! https://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Embedded-Security-Meetup/ ============================= • What we'll do Hack on embedded devices. • What to bring Bring any embedded or IoT devices you have lying around and we can open them up to try and recover the firmware! If you just want to play along a laptop would be helpful but not necessary. • Important to know Opening devices can void the warranty and poking around at the pcb can damage the device. If you can't afford to lose the device don't start poking ============================= What does this cost? This event is FREE! If you enjoy the meeting, we're happy to accept donation in cash, here on Meetup via WePay, or via Paypal/Bitcoin. Please ask onsite or email the organizers here on meetup if you'd like to organize a Bitcoin/electronic donation. ============================= Where do I park? / How do I get inside? Tuesday Open Meeting & Mini Painting Night

Null Space Labs

Welcome to Null Space Labs! Come by on Tuesday nights for our open meeting. We eat, drink, and hack all the things! Learn about programming, electronics, hardware hacking, lock picking, and more! === MINI PAINTING NIGHT! === The last Tuesday of every month is now mini painting night! What's a mini? A miniature figurine. Think Dungeons & Dragons miniatures, board game miniatures, or just cool looking art miniatures. This event is BRING YOUR OWN STUFF (BYOS)! NSL does not provide anything besides a workspace for those painting. See below for recommendations on what to buy if you are new to the hobby! BUY A COMPLETE KIT This is the easiest option. The "Reaper Miniatures 08906 Learn To Paint Bones Kit" is $30 and includes 3 minis, brushes, and paints. See https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NTMC49G/ (OR) BUY ALL THE INDIVIDUAL THINGS If you don't want the kit, you can buy all the things individually. Keep in mind you may need extra stuff for other types of minis. At the very least get: brushes, paints, and minis. Brushes: The "#1" brush is the standard size used for mini painting. Paints: There's lots of mini painting sets out there - the popular brands are Citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter, Game Color, Formula P3, etc. Low quality acrylic paints are OK but they will be harder to work with (TLDR mini paint is "soft body" acrylic, most acrylic paint you buy at the art store is "heavy body"). Minis: There's a lot of options, but start with https://www.miniaturemarket.com/ and http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Bones. We recommend to get a one-piece plastic minis to start with. You can worry about assembling fancy glued together or metal minis once you go pro. Get minis of any type you want! Extra stuff for non-kit users: For lower quality minis you may need to do some prep work to remove protective coatings and etc before painting. Check if the minis you buy need to be primed before painting (otherwise the paint won't stick). If so, buy an aerosol can of primer and make sure it is designed for plastics (or metal, if you have metal minis). EXTRA PAINTING SUPPLIES Some extra things you might want. These are optional Paint Palettes https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074CX7DZC/ More Brushes https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L4ZBGCC/ LOCAL SUPPLY STORES? If you're looking for a local place in LA to get minis & related supplies we recommend Knightware in Hollywood. If you want budget painting supplies go to your local Michaels or Blicks. ============================= Where do I park? / How do I get inside?
