OC Hiking Club Mission Statement
Orange County Hiking Club, a charitable, 501(c)(3) organization exists to promote physical, mental, and emotional wellness through connection with nature. In addition to outdoor recreation for members of all ages, OC Hiking Club provides education, empowerment, encouragement, inspiration and healing to at-risk youth through mentorship and leadership development in the outdoors.
OC Hiking Club Equality Statement
The OC Hiking Club is an association of persons of all ages, ethnic groups, and religious affiliations who are united in a common love of nature and outdoor activities. We work to enrich the quality of life and character of our community through programs that reconnect people with nature and promote health and fitness in the great outdoors.
Kids in Need of Nature Program
The OCHC Kids-in-Need-of-Nature Program fills a critical gap by taking disadvantaged and at-risk youth into nature on hikes and outings. The program receives high praises from our community, agencies and youth organizations. Due to budgetary limits we have a waiting list of organizations who want their youth to have this experience. Your donation makes a BIG difference in the lives of these children.
Trail Guardian Program!
Protect & Preserve our local wildlands and trails. Attend our annual training to learn on-the-fly trail maintenance skills and get certified! Our Trail Guardians cover a documented 600 trail miles annually and even more undocumented miles on the trail. Over 3,000 bags of trash and debris have been collected on local trails since its inception in 2011. The OC Hiking Club is very proud to have a significant positive effect on our wildlands and trails.
By joining you must agree to and sign the OCHC ANNUAL PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT: http://www.oc-hiking....
Get Outdoors - Get Happy - Get Healthy!
Cumulatively the club has lost millions of pounds! We find that time spent in the outdoors is magical, healthy and healing. We have also seen that there is a great need for positive human contact and the social aspect of these family style hikes is a significant contributing factor to physical health as well as mental, spiritual and emotional wellness. The combination of time spent in nature coupled with positive human contact has powerful results.
---> CHECK with your doctor before starting any exercise program. You should be able to walk 3 miles comfortably before joining.

I just lost my job and now I have some extra time to hike
Come hike your cares away... during the economic downturn we are getting even more new members many of which “have always wanted to go hiking, but never had time.” And some members have had success finding new work OTT “On The Trail.”
Revocation of membership
The OC Hiking Club, its President and the Board of Directors, reserve the right to revoke the membership of any member without comment at any time for behavior deemed inappropriate or unsafe. Such behavior includes, but is not limited to refusal to follow directions of hike organizers during events; unwanted attention towards or harassment of a fellow member; hostile, rude or inappropriate treatment towards a fellow member; failure to follow safety guidelines established by the organization; failure to follow club bylaws; failure to comply with local, state, or federal regulations while engaged in club activities; etc.
NO SOLICITING! Do not solicit within OCHC, on the message board, profile or calendar. Solicitors will be removed from the club.
Because we utilize meetup.com for our calendar interface we also are tied into the meetup.com email system which does not allow us to remove individual email addresses. Please edit your email settings if you don't like email. Go to your profile and click on "email settings" to reduce email. Also note that meetup.com automatically removes inactive members after 6 months. We apologize for this inconvenience. If you have been removed by this automatic feature, please rejoin.
OC Hiking Club consists of all ages, cultures, religions and we all agree on one thing - We LOVE hiking. Go forth and enjoy the abundance of nature through hiking and good friends.
