Learn to meditate
Please note that we are in the upstairs room in the building. Please expect to sit for about an hour on a chair or on a pillow and bring a light jacket as the room gets cold sometimes. Look forward to meeting you soon!!!

What we're about

We invite you to our group to check us out on a Sunday afternoon and start experiencing the benefits of true meditation in as little as one session. Meditation is often defined as taking a moment to sit quietly or to ponder. True meditation, however is much more than this. It is a state of profound, deep peace that occurs when our mind is calm and silent, yet completely alert and not in a sleeping state. This mental state is just the beginning of an inner transformation that takes us to a higher level of awareness enabling us to fulfill our true human potential. The problem of course is how to achieve this state and use it throughout the day. Sahaja yoga/Meditation provides a simple, time-honored technique to achieve this state of deep inner silence. This technique is based on bringing our attention to the present moment and gradually establishing a connection with our deeper self through the awakening of the residual inner energy called Kundalini. This happens spontaneously and no effort is required on our part.

Each session is about an hour long and we begin with a guided meditation followed by introduction to some simple techniques to balance our chakras (energy centers) which play a crucial role in realizing the meditative state of thoughtless awareness. We also share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. As one works towards experiencing this state of meditation on a regular basis, there are many benefits one may notice. To name a few, a feeling of peace and joy from within, slowing down the thought process of our minds, learning to bring our attention within and not to react to every little thing one notices, de-stressing mentally and physically and last but not least feeling more confident and energetic through out the day.

Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a worldwide movement for peace and self-awakening. All the meetings and classes are always free of charge including the ones in Irvine and are offered as a community service to help fellow human beings to live more profound and balanced lives. Our classes have many layers, varied and deep, giving one the opportunity to move at your own pace and to the level that one feels comfortable with.

For those of us who are looking for a deeper spiritual experience Sahaja Meditation reveals to us the eternal, divine being with in all of us that is truth, awareness and bliss. We no longer feel about us as an individual being but a part and parcel of the collective consciousness that pervades the whole universe. A direct connection with our source of existence gets established. This experience is the next stage in the evolution of an ordinary human being's awareness. A person who achieves this state is said to be born again or realized. This means that our spiritual essence, that had been hidden until now, becomes a reality. Our union with the whole gets stronger and stronger as we move on with the regular practice of meditating 10-20 minutes a day and that is without doubt the most precious benefit that Kundalini awakening can bring to human beings.

So, with a genuine desire to experience it, come check us out on a Sunday afternoon and let the spontaneous awakening of this inner energy take your mind to a state where there is no mental activity or any thought about the past or the future but just quietness and joy of enjoying the present moment.
