(1) Destiny Architect -- http://www.meetup.com/OCAndroid/members/1895099/ -- told me about the group. (2) I use an Android smartphone and tablet and am very much interested in the changes being brought about in our culture through these devices. Besides that lofty objective, I find discovering and using Android apps to be a lot of fun. New Android users sometimes need help in getting up to speed, and developers often find it useful to see how users react to and with their apps. Those are the areas where I feel users can contribute to this group.
I don't want to build apps, but do want to share news with other users about the cool Android apps we've found. Later we might be putting in requests to developers about what we users would like to have built!
None unless you count HTML and CSS. I've built and managed a number of Web 1.0 sites and recently released two very simple commercial WordPress sites, plus a BuddyPress site for the family reunion I hosted in 2011. I do a little CSS for organizational MailChimp emails.
I'm not a programmer but have done some web design and have been a professional writer and graphic designer (InDesign, Photoshop) for print media for years. I'm currently working with MS Expression Web and WordPress and am learning CSS. I do some of my own IT admin (including a little Subversion) and for writing and multimedia use Windows 7 plus, of course, Android. I have a degree in journalism and have done extensive still photography, both in my early career in educational and medical public relations and later as a freelance writer and graphic designer. I've recently learned to do video editing (using Pinnacle on the PC) and have made several videos. I started my computer life in the '80s on a Mac 512 but defected to the dark side during the Mac clone wars. I'm the author of a book, How to Start A Home-Based Writing Business (The Globe Pequot Press), now in its 5th edition.
Yes, in fact it's picked as the #1 featured example of meeting this standard per http://1.JotHere.com/767#M4RCP6 .
I'm not a developer but an Android user and fan. I especially like the price I pay Virgin Mobile for my Motorola Triumph: $25/mo w/unlimited text & data & 300 min voice. I also use an Acer A100 (7" Android tablet).
Expanding to include a track for users like me -- thanks. I will be running those meetings.
