Help us to understand the experience level of our members. This will enhance the safety and planning of events. Are you new to backpacking or do you consider yourself an experience backpacker? About how long have you been backpacking?

BRMS store page has a link to here.

Do you currently have all the equipment you need for a backpacking trip? i.e. backpack, boots, sleeping bag, stove, tent, cooking stuff, clothing, etc. etc., etc.?

my tent. I always feel pretty much at peace srttling in after a long day. Never seemed to get the hang of Tarps or under the Stars.

When was the last time you went backpacking? Where did you go? How many nights were you on the trail?

just being ready to go enjoy a weekend hike when my schedule is open. And enjoying 4 seasons outdoors.

What is the longest backpacking trip you have been on (number of days/nights)? Where?

Do you know how to read a topographic map? Do you own and know how to use a compass? Do you own and know how to use a GPS?

I have been backpacking on and off for many years and would like to find some active people to hike with. I enjoy small group hikes for 3 of 4 nights best, but I have done some extended trips.

What Paul is saying about this Meetup Group

This was a great hike to renew some friendships and make some new ones. The actual hiking was easy, perfect for the beginners and the short daylight hours. Anna's pre-trip scouting helped find tent sites for our late Friday arrival and night camp setup. Very surprising how many others were on the trails, but probably due to easy access from Charlottesville and the nice weekend weather. As for the Sherpa games...... Well...... Ya gotta do something around the fire!
