Help us to understand the experience level of our members. This will enhance the safety and planning of events. Are you new to backpacking or do you consider yourself an experience backpacker? About how long have you been backpacking?

I have backpacked off and on since the 70's

Do you currently have all the equipment you need for a backpacking trip? i.e. backpack, boots, sleeping bag, stove, tent, cooking stuff, clothing, etc. etc., etc.?

I do have all the eqiupment I currently need.

When was the last time you went backpacking? Where did you go? How many nights were you on the trail?

last time was at Philmont Scout Ranch back country in 2012. outside the ranch for 10 days, brush busting map and compass work, not established trails for the most part.

What is the longest backpacking trip you have been on (number of days/nights)? Where?

Appalachian Trail, 2006 summer, solo mostly, Southbound from Pen-Mar park on the Pa/MD border southbound midway into Virginia 340 miles. a little over a month. I think it was Troutville, or Catawba or something.

Do you know how to read a topographic map? Do you own and know how to use a compass? Do you own and know how to use a GPS?

Yes, to all three.

Introduction

I knew Phil briefly in the mid 70's. Reconnected with him recently. We find we have shared many of the same experiences over the years. It would be really nice to meet and backpack with him after so long and see if he still has the same personality.
