From Your Organizer, Plea for Trips, Etiquette

Hey Guys, hope everyone is having a great summer (so far) and is managing to keep cool!

This is my regular plea for folks to post trips that they may have in mind or are currently planning or just wondering about.

It's so easy to post a trip!  If you're having trouble posting, I'll even make you a trip organizer!

So, if you're planning a hike, post it, let newcomers tag along and learn from your experience.  The great thing about summer is you don't have to worry about someone packing too light and freezing!  They may get hot, wet, tired, hungry, but hey, that's how we all learned!

philosophy - we as adults, who venture into the woods, really need to learn some map skills, and I mean topo map skills. Or some compass and/or gps skills*  Not talking about google maps, iphone maps, waze, talking about a real gps or an app that turns your phone into a real back-country gps.  So, before your next trip, google 'how to read a topo map' for some 101 basics.

Ok, etiquette for a second.  It's hard to get people to post a hike.  It's even harder if it's not fun for the host.  So everyone....please be nice!   If you sign up for a trip and then change your mind, please be courteous and change your rsvp.  It has happened to me twice so I'm sure it happens all the time, where folks need to change the rsvp, but don't then just basically ghost on all messages and coordination, not returning calls or texts or participating in coordination (i.e. who wants to carpool?)  So please be nice, and respond to questions or information that your host is discussing.

thank you for reading, now please post a trip before it's winter again.  Dolly Sods and Grayson Highlands are a lot cooler than we are by the coast.

thank you

phil

ps - posting this in both MAB and OCB
