Hi,

Fellow group member, An, is beach camping with a friend.

https://www.meetup.com/OC_Camping/members/85658432

She is friendly and open to other group members joining her.

Her campsite has limited space, but a few more people can fit.

Carpinteria State Beach is between Ventura and Santa Barbara.

Drive time is about...

1.5 - 2 hours from LA - https://goo.gl/maps/AaqLLH9ncGoHM26C9

2 - 2.5 hours from OC - https://goo.gl/maps/Xvg4s1rzWguLLecC9

Note: I personally am not attending.

An is busy, so I'll be the "middle-man" to help coordinate and facilitate this small group trip.

This will be an intimate, friendly, and relaxing weekend.

Saturday morning until Sunday.

The weather should be nice.

Carpinteria State Beach is relatively small, but you can swim, surf, boogie board, ride a bike, fly a kite, walk/hike, etc.

I'll post some alternative activities if anybody wants to go elsewhere and do/see other things.

It helps if people contact me directly (via Meetup) with answers to some questions.

If there’s room and I feel okay about someone attending, then I’ll reply and include my Paypal and Venmo. $15 per person/adult.

$10 will go to An and $5 will help with Meetup group fees.

Those who contact me, confirm, and pay will be saved a spot at her campsite.

We’re sorry if room isn’t available for everyone, and some people can’t go.

Sometimes people try to communicate with me in the comments section, and imo, it’s inconvenient. Plus, Meetup sometimes doesn’t notify me of comments, so I might not see questions/comments immediately, so messaging me directly is preferred.

The campground has potable water, showers, picnic table, fire ring, restrooms with sinks (running water), and toilets that flush.

The campsite might be cramped/crowded, so setting up tents close to each other might be necessary.

Trucks/Vans and RVs might block the view of the beach from the campsite, but walking to the beach should be a short walk.

Parking space is limited, so some might have to park at the nearby beach parking lot.

www.californiasbestbeaches.com/carpinteria/carpinteria_maps/carpinteria_beach_map.png

Everyone should bring/buy their own food, but if anyone doesn’t have a cooler, Ventura, Carpinteria, and Santa Barbara should have markets / grocery stores and restaurants.

____________________

I'm not a mind-reader, so if anyone is interested in attending, please contact me directly (message me on Meetup) with answers to the following questions:

(1) Do you want to drive or ride with someone else? If you can drive others, how many passengers can you accommodate? What time on Saturday do you want to leave SoCal? What city/area are you leaving from? (This helps with finding you a carpool buddy).

(2) Do you have your own camping gear (e.g. tent, sleeping bag, mat/pad/cot, etc.) ?

(3) Do you understand you are responsible for bringing / buying your own food?

(4) Do you have a preference on what you want to do (or where to go) on Saturday and Sunday?

(5) Do you understand that the campsite might be small and setting up tents might be crowded and some might have to park at the beach parking lot?

(6) Do you understand Wiseman is not attending, but An is? She will help you all have a fun time together.

-

If using Meetup via the phone app or a computer (e.g. web browser), look for my name/profile (wise|man) under Attendees, and then click a shortcut for messaging me (e.g. an envelope icon shortcut or "message").

Please message “wise|man” instead of using the comments section. Thank you.

-

After messaging me your answers, a $15 contribution will be collected via Paypal or Venmo.

$10 will go to An and $5 will help with Meetup group fees.

An said she will get firewood, so if anyone wants to cook food over the fire, that might be possible.

More info on the campsite & final details will be sent to those who confirmed & paid.

I'll connect you all with An to better coordinate in case some of you want to do some activities together on Saturday or Sunday.

If anyone can drive and is open to carpooling...or if anyone wants to go, but is looking for a ride:

- Post a comment and maybe others will respond

- Check the comments section of both the LA and OC groups if maybe someone else is offering a ride or needs a ride

LA - https://www.meetup.com/LA_Camping/events/260752438

OC - https://www.meetup.com/OC_Camping/events/260752442

- Let me (Wiseman) know because sometimes people message me (and they might not post a comment), so I can also try to connect people for carpooling.

Note: If you successfully connect with another person for carpooling, please let me know.

In past camping trips, some people became friends through carpooling. Yes, riding with a new person might seem awkward, so feel free to exchange social media, or talk over the phone, or meet for coffee or a hike beforehand to break the ice and become more comfortable with one another.
