Crafting data into powerful and shareable visuals

Doors will open at 6:15pm; the discussion will begin at 7:00pm.

A chart is worth a 1,000 words, and in the era of digital news and social sharing it can be worth hundreds of thousands of readers as well.  But good charts are more than just decoration — they are visual stories that sometimes reveal much more about the data behind our world than a classic narrative could.

Join us at Youtube as we explore the different ways newsrooms can find editorial value in data and how to craft it into meaningful graphics.

The panelists:

• Sarah Slobin, senior graphics editor, Wall Street Journal (@sarahslo)

• Ritchie S. King, visual journalist/science reporter, FiveThirtyEight (@ritchiesking)

• Maryanne Murray, global head of graphics, Reuters (@lightnosugar)

Moderator:

• Zach Seward, senior editor, Quartz (@zseward)

Doors will open at 6:15pm; the discussion will begin at 7:00pm. Light refreshments, including wine, beer and beverages, will be served. We welcome announcements of job openings, which will take place after the panel. Follow the conversation online with #ONANYC!

Please provide your full name and the full names of your guests. You must bring Photo ID that matches your registration name. We will not be able to admit ONANYC meetup guests who do not submit this information using Meetup email. Also, we will not be able to accept walk-in guests.

I loved all the work from the panelists. Also, I was the lady who spoke near the end about seeking work as an entry-level reporter. If you have any ideas, let me know. Reach out to [masked]. Thanks!

Hi Uri. Can you elaborate on what is happening? You should just be able to register and then it will ask you to log into your PayPal account.
      Thanks,
