Just a quick hello from your new local organisers Damian and Obi. We will be hosting monthly group meetings (open to all) to catch up on all things ORG and organise regular events such as cryptoparties, talks, workshops and of course campaigns. Keep an eye out here and on our mailing list. New ideas, suggestions for events and anyone wanting to help organise the group are most welcome so get in touch!
We wanted to get things going with something topical yet social so please join us at The Old Market Theatre (Map) on Wednesday 1st March for a catch up in the bar, a privacy themed show, Still and followed by a short Q&A with the show's writer and director Paul Hodson:
H’ is a hacker. She knows where you’ve been. But isn’t sure where she’s going. On the edge of a nervous breakdown H stumbles into a gallery and across the work of Vivian Maier, the “reclusive nanny” who has posthumously emerged as one of the greatest street photographers of all time. H’s hallucinatory encounter with the genius who kept her photography a secret explores Maier’s extraordinary life and examines issues of privacy raised by her evolving story. Performed in a gallery type space, with action happening both around the audience and on their smartphones, Still asks: is there is any privacy left? Who owns your life? And who else knows where you’ve been?
If you would like to join us you will need to book a ticket - https://tom.tickets.red61.com/listprices.php?performanceId=1131:2113
We will be in the theatre's excellent (and reasonable!) bar from 6:45pm so come and say hi to us and your fellow ORG members before the show. The bar stays open after the show so there'll be time for catching up and debate :)
It would be great to kick off a new season of ORG Brighton events with as many people as possible so come and say hello even if you don't fancy the show.
Accessibility Note: Lift to disabled toilets is a narrow platform type with a manual door. There are limited seats for Still, please let box office know if you need a stool to sit for this 60min performance.
