OWSUG November Meeting

OWSUG November Meeting

Hi Everyone,

We are starting our user Group a little later this year to accommodate some changes with our sponsorship and some other things we want to try. I will talk more about after this after the intro for Ken's presentation on Excel PRO.

Dimensional modelling for the Excel pro

It is more of a technical session where Ken teaches why Power Pivot is important, how to create a model, and how to use Power Query to make it happen. (This is actually quite educational for PivotTable users, as it touches on what they need to look at when they more to Power Pivot).

About Your Presenter:

Ken Puls, FCPA, FCMA, is a Chartered Professional Accountant, blogger, author and trainer with over 20 years of business and financial modelling experience. His passion lies in exploring tools to turn data into information, and teaching others how to benefit from them.

Ken has held the Microsoft MVP distinction since 2006 in both the Excel and Data Platform categories. He is also one of about 4% of CPA’s to be recognized as a Fellow of his accounting body.

How the OWSUG Will work This Year:

What first got me interested in participating with the OWSUG was the focus on training, skills development and networking. In the past few years we did this by a combination of presentations and special events like Camps or other group activities.

This year we are going to try a different format for our meetings. This year we are going to take one topic and do a deep dive into that product.

Windows 2019 Server- Will be that Topic! We will spend the rest of the year doing a deep dive and really get to know how Windows 2019 Server works. How we will do this will be a cross between our regular monthly meetings and a study group like scenario.

We will meet monthly but the format of the meetings will change to be more like a study group. Participants (Yes you guys) will help present and talk about Windows 2019 Server. This will be a more interactive meeting and we may have an occasional guest speaker.

I will talk more about this at our November 21st Meeting, If this sounds like something you are interested then please leave a reply to the announcement on our OWSUG Meetup group.
