What we're about
We are a group that meets occasionally to run or hike barefoot in Oakland. So far our events are a monthly stroll around Lake Merritt, and an occasional hike/run in Redwood Regional park. Are you on Strava? check out the official Bay Area Barefoot Runners Strava Club (https://www.strava.com/clubs/252914).
Are you a barefoot runner, hiker, or walker, or do you know one?
Oakland Barefoot Runners is part of the Northern California Chapter of Barefoot Runners Society (https://www.thebarefootrunners.org)
and loosely affiliated with the barefoot-lifestyle advocacy group SBL (Society for Barefoot Living)
Our runs tend to be rather slow, averaging 10-12 min/mile pace. We want anyone to be able to do it. If you are a seasoned runner then it might be a bit slow for you, but if you're not used to running barefoot then this is probably what you should do first anyway.
You'd rather walk? That's OK!! Whether or not you're part of our group run, we want all the barefooters around town to come out of the woodwork and make your presence known at or around our events!
