Tell us about yourself and your sea paddling experience including wet exit experience with a sea skirt.

I am the father of three grown daughters. I'm a regional sales manager covering Northeast US and Eastern Canada for a Cleveland instrument company. I have always loved the outdoors. Have practiced wet exits numerous times with a spray skirt but have never had to do one for real. Still trying to master rolling, but, believe that if you read the water and know how to brace well you can survive almost any conditions especially with a personal flotation device on and appropriate water temperature protection.

While we welcome beginner kayakers and want to encourage those seeking sea kayaking learning events and experiences are you OK with being being excluded from events (for safety) based on your beginner status?

I paddle a Nouvo Composites 17. I have taken the Level 1 safety course at Baldwin Wallace College which included included self rescue with the paddle float and assisted rescue. I enjoy being on Lake Erie. I have cold water gear. I raced in the Grand River, Vermillion River Races and the Misery Challenge at Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts.

Describe your sea kayaking gear including whether you have access to a boat. Include PFD, spray skirt, wet suit and any other gear you will bring and use for outings.

I do travel moderately. Weekend paddles are good. Weekday morning or early evenings are possible too. My schedule is often flexible. Whisky Island, Brad Street Landing or the Rocky River Marina are all convenient put-in places for me. One of my goals is to some day do some Island hopping to Canada. I met Eric Slough at the Grand River Race. I previously read his write-up about paddling the western end of Lake Erie to Pellee Point in Ontario. He knows you Libby. I was aking him if he could point you out yesterday, but, he couldn't find you. Perhaps, you choose, like Brad, to pass it up due to low water.

Have you paddled on Lake Erie? If so, where and how far? There is no wrong answer to this question.

Have done numerous paddles all over Northeast Ohio on Lake Erie in all seasons. Have paddles the Lake Erie Islands numerous times.

Is your profile picture an identifiable head shot of YOU and ONLY you? If not, you will be declined.

Everybody on the water! My name is Gerry Henwood. We are based out of Whiskey Island, the best location in the nation for sea kayaking. I look forward to meeting you.
