What we're about
I am looking for additional crew members to sail in offshore races organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC)and the Junior Offshore Group (JOG).
The boat is Mardy Gras, a high-specification X332, and it is based in Haslar Marina, Gosport. The core crew competed in the Fastnet races in 2013 and 2015 (24th/118 in IRC4 overall). We plan to compete in the JOG & RORC race series in 2018, and the Fastnet in 2019.
Previous offshore racing experience is essential for the Fastnet and previous offshore cruising experience is required for RORC qualification races. Novices are welcome on training events and/or on JOG races, if there are enough "core crew". All members have the opportunity to be considered for the Fastnet subject to qualifications, previous experience and participation in 2019 qualifying races
Introductory sailing days and weekends are being arranged from March 2018 (see Events list).
Please note that event charges cover all food and drinks whilst on board, race entry fees, marina fees, fuel, gas, maintenance of all safety equipment to MCA coding & RORC prescriptions (including lifejackets, tethers, life raft etc.) and maintenance of all race-specific equipment (race sails, running rigging etc.). All non-race costs are excluded as are drinks and dinners ashore and personal insurance.
Event finish times published on this site are a guide only. They are normally finalised with the crew participating in an event as we sometimes call in to ports on the return trip, eg. St Peter Port on the way back from St Malo. Also, it is recommended that you plan to have around 24 hours contingency after an event in case weather delays our ETA, either out or back or both.
The boat is also available for skippered charter week-ends or one week trips, for 4 people. Please contact me via this site if you are interested.
