Tina Karle is the author of a number of books on waterfalling. Take a look at this Amazon.com link to see them all.

Tina will be leading a group to Anderson Falls in Indiana.

Ride share is a must! It takes an hour to get to the falls. Lunch will be in North Vernon. You will be seeing approximately 7 waterfalls.
Waterfalls that we would be seeing are: Anderson Falls, Tarkeo Falls, Hartsville Cemetery Falls, Muscatatuk State Park Falls, Cali Nature Preserve, and if time Crosley Lake Falls, and perhaps Brush Creek Reservoir Lake Falls. All are nice sized waterfalls being in the 15 foot range or larger. A few are a bit smaller but just as unique and well worth seeing.

Waterboots, tripods, and wide angle lenses are recommended.  Also, if you have neutral density filters and circular polarizers, bring them as well.

    March 30, 2014

    • Tina K.

It was a cold, wet day, but it was still one of the best days I've had in years! Thank you, Tina, for taking us on an adventure!

    3 · March 29, 2014

    • Tina K.

LOL NO! Not quite. Just giving a small speech at the beginning to watch slippery rocks, slippery wooden walkways and steps and trecherous hillsides!!!

      3 · March 30, 2014

    • Ina K

Lol, most of us couldn't have gone then, Lynn, so it's good thing Tina screen us for clumsiness. I think the weather worked against us in that matter.

I just want to thank everyone for the card you all put in my truck. I DID NOT even see you all do that....What a wonderful group of people this trip! Brought me to tears last night when I got home and opened the card. Thank you all for your kindness of thinking of me! Tomorrow will be hard as I speak at the funeral for my friend. Tried to focus and stay busy helping everyone and not zone out to much at the falls yesterday. Blessed to know there are such amazing people who are part of OVCC!

A cold wet start to the day but that didn't blunt the beauty of the waterfalls or the great company. And I did enjoy the brief swim that I took.
Will have some photos uploaded shortly.
Thanks again Tina. I look forward to the adventure of following you around on more waterfall explorations in the future.

It was a great day! Thanks Tina for taking us and Lynn I am glad to hear you are not hurt. I definitely learned a lot especially how to take care my gear in the rain, but that seemed to set up for real nice afternoon for taking pictures!!

    2 · March 30, 2014

It was an awesome day and waterfalling is definitely a new addiction of mine. I'd love to do it again, rain or shine.

It was such an enjoyable adventure. I hadn't meet some of the people on this meetup and was glad I had the opportunity to share this trip with them. Can't say how much fun it is to be in a group with like minds about photography! What a blast!

Excellent! Tina is the best when it comes to waterfalls and locations. She is most kind.

I share Tina's passion for waterfalls. I was number 2 on the waiting list and would loved to have gone; even in the rain. Can't wait to see the pictures!

    March 30, 2014

    • Andrea Van V.

Jim, I was next on the waiting list, I also am passionate about waterfalls! Hopefully we can get on the next one!! Or maybe we can go on our own with Tina's book!!! I'm always game for finding new wsterfalls!

      March 30, 2014

Sounds like a great day. Wish I could have come along. Hope you guys will post lots of photos. Curious to see what you saw.

What an amazing group of people this trip! Sad alot didn't make it but there will be another one here shortly! Rain stopped about 2:30 once we got to Madison. We detoured from the original plan and saw way more waterfalls. There were some spills and dunkings and one scary fall but all were fine and ok. Many waterfalls seen, and was out the entire day till "sunset"!

    Tina,
So sorry I wimped out on you at the las minute. Gas tank was full, camera batteries charged, new filter bought. But I know I would have been miserable. Hope everybody who did go gets some great shots. Can't wait to see them. Definitely want to go next time.

I have decided to free up a space due to the weather forecast... 80% chance of rain (snow & sleet, as well) in that part of central Indiana. If it we not wall-to-wall, I might have thought differently. Rain = waterfall flow.
But rain + possible snow + upper 30s = miserable Tim.

    March 28, 2014

    • Tina K.

awww rain means good flowing falls,,,,gotta bring rain gear is all dry pair of clothes helps

      March 28, 2014

  • Ina K

Where could I find a pair of cheap wet boots and what should I be looking for? Is it something I just slip over my regular shoes? Sorry for being a bit clueless on this.

    March 23, 2014

    • Lynn M.

You could always return them. There is a Sears very close to where we are meeting in the morning. It's not too late. I can stop by in the morning. They open at 9.

      March 28, 2014

    • Ina K

Thanks, Lynn. I got some at the tractor store for $ 20. A bit funky looking but will do.

      March 28, 2014

  • Jennifer

I am really looking forward to this! Thank you, Tina, for hosting! I am planning to bring a heavy tripod, 24-70mm. Any other recommendations for gear?

    March 23, 2014

    • Tina K.

Bring a neutral density filter in case of a sunny day and or a circular polarizer. Wet boots are a must, your drink of choice for hydration, light weight gear bag so you don't have to tote alot of things, wide angle lens most definatly!

      March 23, 2014

    • Ina K

I ordered a circular polarizer, may not get it in time, however doubt that I'll need it. I'll bring my[masked] mm lens.

      1 · March 28, 2014

  • Andrea Van V.

Tina, are all these falls listed in your books? If so, which one? being so far down on the waiting list I doubt I'll be going. do you see scheduling anymore trips this spring/summer?

    March 26, 2014

    • Ina K

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. We'll try to take your mind off it for a bit tomorrow. Hugs.

      March 28, 2014

Tina - so sorry for your loss. We know she is in a better place. Hope you get some rest today. And yes, we'll have to have a great time tomorrow!

I didn't think I would get off the waitlist so I made other plans.:(

I have unexpected work commitments tomorrow that will force me to cancel. I was very much looking forward to this, those that do go I'm sure will have a lot of fun, Tina is so knowledgeable.

Sorry to change my RSVP to "NO", but at least someone on WL will get in! I fell and hurt my knee, so climbing/hiking not in my best interest this weekend. :( Can't wait to see everyone's pic!

    March 27, 2014

    • Tina K.

I hope your knee feels better fast Jennifer! That was my best friends name.

      March 27, 2014

Ina - not sure if you got your boots yet or not, but I spent a week looking and nobody had anymore. Tina, duh, forgot about Bass Pro! I ended up ordering online and am waiting for delivery. I may just go to BassPro because this year I'll use them a lot.
Tina, really looking forward to this too! Thanks so much for taking us.

Thank you, I will check it out.

      Sears has them.

      March 27, 2014

  • Terrie W.

I have a 7 passenger van so we'll figure it out once we all get to Hobby Lobby.

    2 · March 27, 2014

  • tim m.

I have risen to the top of the waitlist and finally onto the "going" list.
Is there anybody I can ride with or are there people who need a ride? I'm willing to drive, however I am also mindful of parking considerations and don't want to add another vehicle to anyplace that where parking is already restricted.

    2 · March 27, 2014

  • Tina K.

It is right across the small road at Anderson Falls not a far walk at all. Some tiny bit of rock climbing to get down to the base but its easy! The others are not that far of a walk either. MOST are close to being road side falls, accept for the walk down the hillside.

Can I get a ride? Or maybe I can give others a ride?

      March 23, 2014

    • Tina K.

Did you make it onto the going list? If so then yes, if you wish to follow me as I'll be leading the way that is fine.

      March 23, 2014

  • Ina K

How far are the falls from parking? I wonder if I shoud take my heavy tripod or try to find a lighter, more portable one.

    March 9, 2014

  • Tina K.

Depending on time to photograph the falls perhaps about 4:00, sooner depending on how many we can see and the general feel of the group on wanting to see the falls. I'm game to stay out till dusk if everyone wants to keep seeing them. There are several in that area that are really nice sized to be seen.

    March 9, 2014

  • Ina K

I love waterfalls. So happy that I made it on.

    2 · March 9, 2014

  • Terrie W.

When do we expect to be back that day?

    March 9, 2014

  • Anne E. O.

    Looking forward to it!

    1 · March 9, 2014

  • Tina K.

Welcome Rick, hope you can come too, the falls here are nice. People can spread out and not be in each others way at a few of them. Anderson Falls hosts a nice overhang type cave for some unique shots.

    Tina, thanks for hosting.
