After some discussions, I think it is best to expand our group out of solely MySQL and bring in other Open Source databases.
As many of you have heard in our prior meetups, one of the keys to a successful architecture is using the proper tool for the job. Unfortunately, there isn't really a silver bullet single tech that can satisfy all use cases. Rather, different tools are suited for different needs and often times, a hybrid solution is the best approach.
The goal of this meetup moving forward is to bring in people using a variety of Open Source database tools (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, etc) and show how they fit in particular use cases along with other introductory (and potentially advanced) topics.
In this meetup, I'd like to:
• Go through the new format
• Highlight a few technologies I'd like to discuss
• Get feedback on what tools/databases you'd like to see discussed
• Map out the new direction
As usual, food will be provided, but please RSVP so I can get an accurate count and make sure there is enough for everyone!
I hope you are as excited about the new direction as I am! See you soon!
