Monthly Potluck Dinner at My House

  • Holly's House

(new attendees will receive my address in Ft. Greene by private message), Brooklyn, NY (map)

  • Please do join us for our monthly potluck dinners, which are loads of fun.  We laugh, dine and pontificate around my 70"-round dining room table where all can be heard and join in the lively discussions.  But please RSVP early since I have to limit attendance to the ten that will fit around the table and we've run out of room more than once.  I'll add a comment below about what I'll make for each month's potluck; please add a comment about what you'll be bringing. A few days before, new attendees will receive my address near Brooklyn's Ft. Greene Park by private message.  I'm looking forward to seeing old and new faces alike!

While looking for meetups in L.A. I'm thinking about Holly's request for new ones in Brooklyn. I don't have cable but I've seen many references to good tv series originating with Netflix, Amazon, HBO and others. The two who offered their services could make it easy on themselves by each picking one of the best new or continuing tv shows and having nights following current episodes of the one you each chose. You wouldn't have to do any planning beyond that unless you wanted to. I think a casual buffet pot luck would work with it. Eat sitting at your chair instead of a dining table. Another wrinkle on a game night. How about selecting a single game? Try a few and then settle on the one that gets the most responses. A running poker night, or Monopoly, Scrabble, Backgammon, Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, Game of Thrones, Mahjong, etc. Beginners could learn from the pros. Pot Luck with it.

Thanks for your lengthy suggestions for Third Thursdays, Bob, but you might want to send them by private message in the future, rather than posting them on a future potluck that hasn't even been announced yet (especially since this doesn't really have anything to do with the First Thursday potlucks). Just a suggestion but, again, thanks for sharing your thoughts...and for reading that great story at our November potluck!
