What we're about

We are a Glasgow and Edinburgh-based community organisation (not-for-profit) bringing older LGBT+ people together in inclusive and affirmative spaces: http://www.lgbthealth.org.uk

Older and Proud is part of our LGBT Age Project for LGBT+ people aged 50 and over. Therefore, you have to be 50 and over to attend events in this group. If you are not 50 and over, check our other meetups in Edinburgh at https://www.meetup.com/WellProudEdinburgh (https://www.meetup.com/WellProudEdinburgh/) or Glasgow at https://www.meetup.com/WellProudGlasgow (https://www.meetup.com/WellProudGlasgow/)

Since March 2020, we are hosting our events online on the video conference app Zoom. We will be back to face to face meetups when it is safe to do so again.

We welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community including non-binary, queer, intersex and asexual people (LGBTQIA+) and all queer identities under the rainbow umbrella. Including if you question your sexuality or gender identity but also if you don't use labels for either.

We use Meetup to promote our programme of online events but in order to access our online events, you need to register in advance by following the instructions in the event details. We will either ask you to register through a Zoom registration link of Eventbrite link. RSVP does not count as a registration, you need to register through the link provided. You don’t need to create a Zoom account to join a Zoom meeting. All you need is the meeting link and passcode which we provide in emails after you register for an event. Zoom is similar to other video apps such as Skype. If you are using Zoom for the first time, here are some video tutorials to get you started: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206618765-Zoom-Video-Tutorials

All our events are delivered under a Safe Space Commitment upheld by our staff and volunteers. A Safe Space is somewhere everyone feels welcome, respected and comfortable with being who they are. This includes people who come to our events, volunteers and staff. You can read our Safe Space Commitment at https://www.lgbthealth.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Safe-Space-Commitment-online-events.pdf
