I am offering Mah Jong lessons starting on June 13th. There are still openings for lessons. My phone # is:[masked].
There will be 4 classes, and then we can determine other times to play. For this series we will either play in the afternoon, or evening on Tuesday. It will depend upon schedules.
My address for the 13th is: 2510 Walnut Road NW, west Olympia, between Cooper Point and Division. Call if you need directions. Across the street from Walnut Loop, not IN Walnut Loop. 1 pm.
I would like a minimum of 3 folks, and a maximum of 8 folks for the lessons. . The first thing you can do right now is order a 2017 card from the National Mah Jongg League: https://www.nationalmahjonggleague.org/ This registers you with the organization, and the cards are changed every year. They are under $10 a piece, two types….medium print and large print. I use the large print.
Each person needs a card, so couples will need two cards. Let me know if you have trouble logging in.
Mah Jongg is a game of ritual, and my goal is to teach you the correct rules as mentioned by the National Mah Jongg League.
I have available a rather detailed set of rules and a book you will find helpful (available from Amazon) is: Beginner's Guide to American Mah Jongg: How to Play the Game & Win by Elaine Sandberg and Tom Sloper 10. Please print up the rules to refer to and make notes on as you learn. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. The rules all have a purpose, and the meaning will become clear to you as you play. I will be showing you the various tiles when we begin our lessons.
