Monthly meetup

This is our monthly meetup. There will be an opportunity to show and critique member's photos who choose to bring 5-10 photos. We'll have a projector available if you'd like to bring images on a memory stick, but prints may give a better representation of your finished image.

The next months shoot(s) will also be discussed and setup. There is ample discussion regarding photo related topics including new products and websites, technical issues, photo opportunities, etc. It's a great place to just hang out with others that share the same passions for photography. Send me a note if you have any questions.

Please RSVP. - Greg

I enjoyed the group and seeing the different photos everyone brought and hearing the stories behind some of them. I look forward to next time and will bring photos of my own to show.

Good meet up last night. I do have a question though, one of the people who attended said that they are a dog groomer. We have been looking for one and I meant to talk to you last night, but got side tracked and of course didn't.

If that was you, please send me an email, [masked]

This was my first meetup, I enjoyed seeing everyone's pictures and hearing the critiques.
Nice group of people. Thank you for welcoming my friend and myself.

Great meetup. Thanks for the critique. I tried each of your ideas on the pics today. Some worked, some not. It's interesting how style and technical attributes often intersect, diverge.

I was prepared to attend the meet-up this evening, however, a bad cold I picked up late last week refuses to leave me. So unfortunately, I was unable to attend. Next time though< I will try again.

I was really looking forward to meeting all of you. But had other business to finish up and took longer than expected.

Trying to decide what camera and lens to buy. Maybe some of you can give me some pointers to help me narrow it down. I'm determined to have a dslr by the end of Friday. And I am really looking forward to being a part of this group. I know I am going to learn a lot!

Aaron - The answer to that question is usually "the one I use!". If someone is already invested in a system, that usually means they think their choice is the "best". The most important thing is to realize that once you buy a camera and a couple of lenses, you've bought into that "system". If you think you might want to add a lot of accessories down the road, you might want to stick to Canon or Nikon. Since they have the lion's share of the market, there are a lot more third party accessories available. There are characteristics that distinguish one system from another, and the better idea you have about what and how you want to shoot, the easier it will be for others to provide useful suggestions.

The one thing you don't want is one of those off brands like Canon or Olympus....LOL. Nikon is the only way to fly....

Each of use have our preferences, doesn't make us wrong or right. Scott Wood is one of the top photographers in our group shoots Nikon. Randy Yaple another great photographer shoots Canon his wife Sharon shoots Nikon. John Gerecht, does some awesome portrait work, shoot Nikon. BigGreg, fantastic photographer, shoots Olympus. Tom Blankenship, another one of the best in our group shoots Canon.

Where's the dislike option?? Lol. Gary is right on. No matter what dslr you go with, you'll get good photos. Just a matter of choosing the one that fits you best. I like canon simply because of the layout and options that I got with it. Nikons shoot amazing photos as does Olympus and Sony.
