We will have a special guest speaker, our very own Martin Kimeldorf. Martin will make a presentation (see outline below) about photographing food. This will be followed by a hands-on session at Buck's Fifth Avenue, on Saturday, March 22. We will forego some of the usual formalities so that we can try to have enough time to share and critique photos also.

The Feb 26 seminar illustrates the art of making compelling food pictures. Topics include composing a scene, lighting, color correction and a 3-step shooting process. Whether you bring a phone or DSLR camera, you’re in for a real treat.

This seminar will begin with an illustrated talk including pictures of food, cooking, models with food, restaurant settings and the like. Discussion of lighting and post-production editing will also be included. Since 80% of my food pictures are now done with a phone, anyone can learn these skills.

Please bring images of food or enjoying food to share in the general meeting on Feb 26

The talk will be followed by a hands-on exploration on March 22 where working in teams you can try different methods for composing your shots. If you want to play, please bring a camera of some type (a phone, point and shoot, or DSLR). If you know about lighting you can bring one flash and modifier. Simple food props will be provided. In some venues this will be on a different day.

Martin Kimeldorf has earned awards for teaching and taking pictures of pets, food, and portraits. He has written extensively about posing, lighting, and image editing.

Please RSVP. - Greg
