JOHN What a guy! The salt added to the last batch of Lard/Lye soap worked!! The other two batches are also curing, with the richer lye mix nearly as hard as the salt added batch.... samples at next meeting for everyone

I don't know I have never made soap. Everything I "know" is from books and internet so you let me know what you need me to bring.
Candles will only take about an hour I am gonna bring premade tallow so it wont take too long.

I love this one! I do soaps and detergents. I have done candles but it's been so long ago and it was just for fun. I can't wait to learn and catch up.

we probably don't want to do it inside... I have horrible memories of the smell that permeated my house for a year and a half after I tried it for my the first time ever experience. PMNLOL (plugging my nose laughing out loud). I'd use the propane two burner.

    March 3, 2013

  • John M.

Does anyone have any electric hot plates for the fat rendering? If not we can just use the stove there.
