SUP RENTALS AT THE NEW OLYMPUS 1.5 aka PORTOFINO HOTEL!!
FINALLY...Olympus SUP now offers the oh so important convenience of on-the-water SUP rentals!! While our unbeatable rental rates for SUP rentals for pick up at the shop are still the best in town for those who are willing to shlep the boards around on their cars... sometimes its nice to just show up and head out. So there you have it folks. We are now offering SUP rentals for up to 2 hours with advance reservation at our very own private-ish dock at the north end of the Portofino Inn parking lot. We have a limited supply of 20 boards at this time so its important to reserve in advance! Rental time slots are listed below. Reservations must be pre-paid through our Meetup link. If you are already a member of our Meetup then you know the drill. If you are not currently a member sign on up folks!! It's the only way to stay up to date with all the SUP activities we offer!
YOUR SAFETY & WELLBEING IS OUR PRIMARY CONCERN!!
RENTALS DO NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTION! If you have not paddled before we highly recommend that you contact us to schedule a lesson. Your safety is our primary concern. Without adequate knowledge and paddle skills there are potential hazards. Please email us at [masked] to schedule your first lesson. Once you have been through our beginners SUP lesson you will be able to take advantage of our rental program as well as participate in our wide variety of SUP activities.
In regards to the parking for our new on-the-water location at Portofino Hotel/Rocky Point, we are still working out some of the details. The amount of parking available at the Portofino Inn is very limited due to the guests and the resident boat owners who have priority in the parking facility. For those looking to avoid any headaches, it is still simple enough to park at the large public parking lot that we have all been using for the past several years. If you enter the public parking lot on Harbor Drive that accesses the Seaside Lagoon and drive to the north end of the lot to the right of the Seaside Lagoon and then follow the street (Portofino Way) it is a very short and pleasant walk along the inner harbor path , past Baleen Restaurant, to our new location. We have included a map for you to view to avoid any confusion.
Typically for midweek SUP rentals and all of our midweek SUP Yoga classes and other group paddle workouts that take place in the mornings or evenings you can park in the lot that is adjacent to the Portofino Inn banquet halls ( to the left/south end of the hotel ) just past the security guard booth. The booth is typically not operating until the afternoon. To access this location you need to turn west (towards the ocean) off Harbor Drive onto Portofino Way and continue past Joe's Crab Shack and past the guard booth before turning left. In the event that there is a function taking place in the banquet halls you will need to exit the area and utilize the public parking lot. We are suggesting to our patrons who park in the main public parking lot (Seaside Lagoon area) that they purchase a beverage at On the Rocks Sports Bar and Grill to acquire a validation which gives you up to 6 hours for just 2 dollars. Without validation the rates are now $2.00 per hour.
Another option is to utilize the parking lot of Joe's Crabshack. Their business hours are 11 am until midnight. If you vacate their parking lot by 11 am you should have no problems. If you are there during their regular business hours you have the option to pay 4 dollars to the valet service. We are suggesting that you inform the valet that you will be returning to the restaurant after your activity for a beverage or meal. They have been very accommodating and they typically have ample parking during the weekdays as well.
Naturally, you are welcome to take the eco-friendly route and ride your bike on down if you have the time and live close by. Metered street parking is also available with a maximum of 4 hours for just under $5.00. As we familiarize ourselves with this new spot we will be updating information regarding parking and any other issues that may arise. Olympus does not accept responsibilty for any issues, expenses, or damages that might occur to your vehicle so...pretty please...park responsibly : )
We are so excited to have this new location, and on behalf of the entire Crew here at Olympus we thank you for your continued support and look forward to getting you on the water more than ever. There are 365 days in a year...How many of those will you spend padding?!
