Talk Bitcoin

Since we moved the other meetup to the 11th, just thought I'd see if there was any interest in getting together again in a couple of weeks. Seems like a lot is going on right now with bitcoin and maybe some of the new members will be able to make a different date. Could also change up the location if people want to.

I likely cannot make the meeting tonight but I reserved the party room at Pizza West for us. It has a projector with a 24-ft VGA cord so someone can hook up their laptop. Last time we had 12 people so this room should accomodate us. I spoke with Jeff, the manager, and confirmed the reservation just now.

This is pretty impressive for any of the developers/entrepreneurs in the group: blockchain.info, one of the first bitcoin wallets, generates $300,000 per month in revenue:

I love that companies are making money in this space. Unfortunately, Blockchain.info is making most of their money from ads on their site; I think mobile apps are tough to monetize with ads, that and ads cheapen mobile apps. My short-term monetization strategy was to take a cut of each transaction, something like one or two pennies, but I'm not sure how my users/community will react to that. I guess I'll find out soon :)

I'm fine with a location change as well. Anywhere in Omaha works. Your call.
