What we're about

This is a meetup group for people who are interested in the practice of mindfulness, particularly in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. We have numerous meetings, sometimes three or four a week. There are two weekly meetings currently, the Monday night meditation and Friday noble silence meditation. The group is called a Sangha, the word for community in Buddhism. We practice in a Buddhist tradition, but we are open to people from any background or religion. All of our meetings are free to attend and participate in, although you have the option of donating however much you wish. Please check out the website below:

No previous experience is required to attend. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and people of all kinds are welcome. Some familiarity with Thich Nhat Hanh's tradition and teachings is helpful. Welcome!

Friday Noble Silence Meditation

The Yoga Path

An hour of meditation done entirely in noble silence. 20 minutes of sitting meditation, 15 minutes of walking, and 20 more minutes of sitting.

Monday Night Meditation

The Yoga Path

The Honey Locust Sangha meets at The Yoga Path (7641 Pacific Street) at 6:30 every monday. This meeting starts off with a greeting, then 20 minutes of guided sitting meditation, followed by 10 minutes of walking meditation, and then 20 minutes of silent sitting meditation. This is followed by an hour of some aspect of the practice in the tradition.

Friday Noble Silence Meditation

Monthly Half Day of Mindfulness

Once a month, currently on the 4th Saturday, we gather at the home of a Sangha member for a half- day of mindfulness. Typically this will involve a Dharma talk given via video chat and a mindful meal.
