2013 Raven Rock Ramble

Hey Drafters,

Already nearly 100 riders signed up since December 1st, so thought I'd go ahead and post this.  This is my favorite event of the year (after New Bern of course!) and David will be reusing the awesome black t-shirt with the modernist bicycle painting (some of you have probably seen mine from '07).  See below from David Cole.

Registration is now open for the 2013 edition of the Raven Rock Ramble, which will be on Sunday, May 5th (always the first Sunday in May).   See the event home page at http://ravenrockramble.org/ for details.

This year we're adding a women's cut V-neck shirt in the same high quality quick-dry fabric as the men's.  The shirts are black this year with the ever popular modern bike image we've used before.  The registration limit is upped from 550 to 600 riders, but I still expect registration to fill by early March.   And, we'll still have all the good stuff you've come to expect - great food (Moe's Southwest Grill will be back!), awesome volunteers, and a very fun event that folks keep coming back to.  I hope you'll plan on joining the fun!

Cheers,

David Cole, director
Raven Rock Ramble

p.s.  Don't forget that any registration/donation you make in December will deductible for tax year 2012.  The proceeds from the Raven Rock Ramble benefit the UNC Kidney Center to assist patients with immediate needs.  The Raven Rock Ramble is a 100% volunteer-driven event, and 100% of the proceeds (minus expenses) are used for direct patient services.  The difference this assistance makes is what keeps me going with the Raven Rock Ramble, now in its twelfth year.

There's no on site registration but sometimes plans change and people sell their slots. You may want to contact the event organizer, David Cole [masked]

I am signed up with a confirmed registration but will be out of town the day of the ride. Must I do anything special to substitute a friend in my place or may they simply show up and use my name?

Registration is closed. There is no official registration the morning of the event, but folks are generally allowed to pay and ride that morning as long as the organizers know they have vacated slots, which there typically are.

I'm planning to do 86, hoping to average close to 17 mph.

Planning to do 86 miles at an average of 17 mph, eat lunch, then do the last 14 at about 10 mph. Nothing's worse than gutting out a long ride, then finding that all the best food is gone. Anybody with me?
